In our quest to search for information that will help us reduce our weight and get rid of stomach fat, we come across many resources and information. Most of it instead of being of use to the reader leaves him/her more confused.

Now, last Saturday, after lunch, I logged on to my Internet in search for information on how to get rid of stomach fat and shed a few pounds of weight. I came across a website called Weight loss 4 idiots. Well, I must admit that this even surpassed my knowledge that I gained form University. All we were taught was that you will lose weight by using low fat food. However, according to the weight loss for idiots program, this will not work. Here is why:

1) Low Fat Foods do not work.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight. So If you were contemplating on getting rid of your stomach fat through this method, You may have to think twice.

2) Low Calorie Diets do not work

This is another statement that is claimed to be a fact according to weight loss for idiots plan. This is what they have to say: You won't lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt --- known as a dieting plateau). You can never get slim by starving yourself. Note: This is true because the moment you stop, all the fat will come back.

3) Low Carb Plans do not work

On this subject, this is what is said: You'll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb Dieting Plan. Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.

4) What about Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig Dieting Plans?

According to the weight loss for idiots program, it is said that Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig) usually involve slower dieting progress over a longer period of time, since such programs generally promise only 2-3 pounds of weight loss per week. Also, programs such as Jenny Craig usually involve buying special meals and/or dietary supplements during the initial phases of the program. While some people may like these types of dietary programs, I would prefer a dieting plan, which focuses on faster weight loss, such as the Accelerated Fat Burning Program shown below...

So have you been fooled by the Infomercials, and other ads telling you to use the above methods? I would suggest you give it a second look. This article was just a review of the above facts as started on their website. Fitness Tips On How To Avoid Gaining Weight During The Holiday Season


This holiday season don’t be trendy – avoid the Seasonal Seven (the average weight most Americans gain between Thanksgiving and New Year’s). That’s one trend you don’t want to participate in!

I know what you are thinking – the holidays are a time for fun and indulgence. You don’t want to think about fitness during that time. You want to enjoy yourself. Okay, before you accuse me of being the Grinch, you should know that I completely agree. The festivities don’t have to be eliminated or avoided, because you can have a fabulous time while also maintaining your weight and your fitness regimen.

The secret to achieving a holiday season that is both full of fun and also includes fitness is found in moderation. There are two typical approaches to the seasonal festivities: 1) throw all healthy habits out the window and indulge in every guilty pleasure 2) starve and binge approach (for example, you eat nothing all day long to allow yourself to overindulge in party food). Of course, neither approach is successful at maintaining a healthy, fit lifestyle throughout the holiday season.

As I mentioned above, the key is found in moderation. With a moderate approach both to what you eat (or don’t eat) and how much exercise you do (or don’t do), you can avoid packing on extra weight AND also partake in all the fun of the season. So this season, get a head start on the New Year instead of starting January with extra pounds to lose.

Here are some tips to help you:

Create a plan ahead of time. Before the holidays sneak up on you, create a plan for incorporating fitness and good nutrition into your daily routine. Evaluate your holiday and then determine how much time you will realistically have available to devote to working out and/or eating healthy meals.
Don’t put your fitness goals on hold until the New Year. If you can’t exercise as often during this time period as you normally do, adjust appropriately. Don’t use the excuse that since you don’t have time for your full workout you just won’t workout at all. Instead accept your limited availability and simply reduce the frequency and/or duration of your exercise. It’s much better to cut your fitness time in half than to completely eliminate it.
On the day of a party, be sure to eat regularly all day long. If the party is in the evening, eat breakfast, lunch and a snack before hand (just as you would on any other day). Once you are at the party, go ahead and indulge in some of the fun, delicious foods. Since you have eaten meals earlier in the day, you probably will find that you aren’t tempted to go overboard and eat everything in sight. However, if you starve all day long attempting to save up all your calories for the party, you will be so famished by the time it begins that it will be difficult not to overeat.
Schedule your workouts. Mark them on the calendar and set-aside time to complete them. Consider them as important as any other appointment or event you have marked on your calendar.
When at a party, start by eating some of the healthy offerings. For example, vegetable sticks (without dip), fruit pieces, plain chicken pieces, etc. Then move on to some of the less healthy (but yummy) offerings. You will be less likely to overindulge on these foods if you have already filled-up on some of the healthier items. Yet, you will not feel deprived or unsatisfied.
On days that you really lack motivation or simply do not have time for your complete exercise routine, commit to do just 10 minutes of exercise. You’ll probably end up doing more than that once you get started. Even if you only end up completing 10 minutes, that is still a lot better than zero minutes.
When presented with a large variety of food options, it’s tempting to want to eat everything. Rather than eating one large slice of chocolate cake or a huge plate of meatballs, select a sampling of bite size pieces of several of the desert or appetizer offerings. This way you get the enjoyment of trying many different foods without overeating.
Exercise at home. You’ll be more inclined to follow-through on your exercise commitment if you don’t have to drive somewhere to do your workout. Plus, you won’t waste any time on driving, parking, the locker room or waiting to use equipment. Working out at home requires very little equipment (even can be equipment-free) and is quite inexpensive.
Avoid wasting calories on alcoholic beverages. The average alcoholic drink contains 150-200 calories per glass. Indulge in just 2-3 drinks and you’ve drunk the equivalent calories of an entire meal. If you partake in these beverages, choose wisely. For example, instead of having a full glass of wine, try mixing half a glass of wine with sparkling water or with a diet cola. This will help cut your calories in half.
When running errands or shopping, be sure to pack some healthy snacks to have on-hand. Then after you work-up a big appetite, you won’t be tempted to grab something at the mall food court or the fast food restaurant on the way home.

Top Ab Workout For a Flat Stomach


You’ve seen companies on TV tell you that all you need is a quick 2-3 minutes a day doing some ab workout gimmick and you’ll get flat abs in 2 weeks, right?

How many of those ab “gimmicks” have you bought?

How long did you use them?

If you’ve bought any of these gadgets, you’ve probably realized by now that the commercial that sold you was borderline false advertising.

But there are some things you can do without any equipment at all to get toned sexy abs and a flat stomach, starting right now.

1) Increase your intensity – I don’t mean do more ab crunches or sit ups, I mean make the exercise more difficult.

2) Use Resistance – Rather than pounding out ab crunches or situps on the ground, pick up something that weighs 5-10 pounds to increase the difficulty.

3) Lower the reps – Doing 20-30 or even 100 ab crunches in a workout is a waste of time. You just get really good at doing a lot of situps. Lower the reps to allow for greater resistance.

The objective of your ab workouts is to stimulate your abdominal muscles to become stronger and more dense. This is what will give you sexy six pack abs once you achieve low levels of body fat.

To truly get six pack abs and flatten your belly, you don’t need to be perfect in everything you do, you only need to be mediocre in 3 main things:

Nutrition – In a perfect world you can eat chicken and broccoli for every meal, even breakfast. But the fact of the matter is, this isn’t a perfect world. If you get 75% of your diet right each day, you’ll be sitting pretty in just a few short months.

Weight Training – I use this term loosely. You don’t have to train with weights, but you need to get some sort of resistance exercise that goes above and beyond what a normal day usually entails. Maybe it’s two 45 minute workouts per week and one 20 minute workout. Maybe it’s four 20 minute workouts. It doesn’t matter in the whole scheme of things as long as it’s outside of your normal daily activity.

Cardio Training – This one is a doozy. You can actually lose fat and get sexy abs without doing cardio at all, but it does help burn fat if you have the time. I’d recommend some form of cardio training at least 2 days per week to speed it up. Like I said earlier, it doesn’t have to be perfect, just mediocre. Maybe it’s two 30 minute cardio sessions one week, and four forty minute sessions the next. One workout can be interval training and the next can be slow steady cardio. It can and should vary constantly. Keeping it varied will prevent your body from adapting, and keep you from getting bored.

So the key is to be at the very least mediocre at all three of these aspects of the program. You don’t have to go out and kill it at every workout. You don’t need to do cardio every single day. You don’t need chicken breast and broccoli at every meal. You just need to get out and get moving.

Fitness Tips For Looking Your Best On Your Wedding Day


Every bride wants to look perfect on her wedding day. Selecting a dress that will make you look and feel great is an important first step. But what happens when you look in the mirror and don't think you look quite as good as you could? When this happens it’s not uncommon for brides to try quick-fix diets to help them get in shape. Unfortunately, many dieting brides make fitness mistakes that not only prevent them from reaching their goals but also cause unnecessary stress and sometimes even illness. Those are two things no bride needs! Here are five of the most common diet mistakes as well as some tips to help you avoid them.

1. Too much, too late.

One of the most important things to remember if you are trying to lose weight is to start early. For example, don’t try to lose 20 pounds two months before the big day. The key is to plan ahead so that you can lose the weight (or just tone up) gradually. So if you’re dream-wedding day includes you being in great shape, then include fitness as a “to-do” on your overall wedding checklist. That way it will be a priority in your wedding planning.

2. Setting unachievable goals.

Many women get engaged and begin imagining themselves drastically thinner or more sculpted. Be realistic with yourself. If you’ve never been a size 6 in your life, then it is probably unrealistic to think you can magically transform just because you are getting married. And, do you really want to look so different on your wedding day that most people (including your fiancĂ©) hardly recognize you?

3. Radical diets or fitness programs.

Brides typically are short on time and long on to-do lists. This leads many to try unhealthy fitness programs or starvation diets. Don’t be tempted by diets that promise quick, drastic results with little effort from you. You should avoid any programs that suggest taking “diet” pills or eating unbalanced meals (like eating only cabbage soup for a week). And, don’t be lured into trying dangerous things, like laxatives.

4. Not exercising.

It’s very easy for brides to say “I don’t have time to exercise” or “I’m too tired to exercise”. But diet and exercise should always go hand in hand. Consider them to be like yin and yang. Without activity your body can’t burn as many calories. If you are very short on time, try to exercise in small 10-minute bursts throughout the day. And, keep in mind that little things help too, like taking the stairs or parking at the outer edge of the mall parking lot. Plus, if you are tired from all of your planning, exercise will help give you back some energy.

5. Skipping Meals

It’s not uncommon to get caught up in your planning and then realize at 9 p.m. (as your head begins to ache) that you haven’t eaten a thing all day. While it may not be an uncommon scenario, it is unavoidable. Not only is skipping meals unhealthy, it can lead to binge eating. That often means eating very fattening foods and/or overeating all at once. To avoid this, try packing light snacks to keep on hand throughout the day. Good examples include carrot sticks, cheese strings, peanut butter on crackers, etc.

Getting in shape doesn’t have to be complicated and it doesn’t require a lot of time. If you are trying to lose weight or firm up before your wedding, below are some sample plans to help you get started. Keep in mind that the most important thing is for a bride to feel good about herself. And no matter what size or shape, all brides are beautiful on their wedding day!

Sample Exercise FITscription:
20 – 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise (3 – 5 time per week)
Example: 2-5 minutes of brisk walking, 2-5 minutes of jumping jacks (repeat for 20 – 30 minutes)

Sample Meal Plan:
Eat 5-7 small meals per day (meals should include protein, grains, vegetables, etc. to meet the food pyramid daily requirements)
Example: Small, grilled, skinless chicken breast
Slice of whole wheat bread
Slice of cheese

How To Get A Flat, Toned Stomach

One of the most common fitness questions this time of year is “How can I tone my stomach for swimsuit season”? Typically, people believe that the guaranteed quick route to obtaining a rock-solid six-pack is a path packed with hundreds of sit-ups or abdominal crunches. Wrong!

The reality is that even if you do crunches every day you aren’t guaranteed to get the stomach you desire. Getting those highly sought after, toned abs requires more work than just abdominal exercises. Plus, as far as stomach exercises go, sit-ups or crunches alone are not the solution.

We won’t go into detail about the muscles that make up the abdominal wall, but it’s good to know the basic information. At a high-level the abdominal/trunk area consists of 5 major muscles. It’s necessary that all of these muscles be exercised. It’s also important to utilize different types of training techniques like concentric, eccentric and isometric.

In addition to training those muscles, it is imperative that you also reduce the fat in your stomach area. If you don’t decrease the fat in this area, then you’ll never see well-defined abdominal muscles not matter how long and hard you train them.

The key to reducing body fat is a comprehensive workout program that consists of cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises. Plus, don’t forget a healthy diet. Good examples of cardio exercises are: walking, swimming, aerobics, and jogging. Strength training can be done with dumbbells, resistance bands and even just your own body weight. Flexibility can be as simple as a few stretches held in place for about 20 seconds.

Now, back to the specifics of abdominal training. Traditional crunches can be a part of your abdominal training, but should be limited and certainly shouldn’t be the only part. To most effectively work your stomach area, it’s necessary to include about 80% rotational work. Rotational exercises are those that include twisting-type methods. Simple crunches do not fall into the rotational category because you simply lift your body straight up and down.

To most effectively train your abs, incorporate a lot of variety, including different positions and equipment. This will allow your muscles to continually be challenged, which is what will help make them stronger and more defined. Remember that you don’t have to lie on your back in the supine position to work your stomach area. There are hundreds of different ways to work them, including exercises in a standing position, on your side, raised on a ball, hanging from a bar, etc.

Don’t forget the importance of form. If you don’t use correct form when performing abdominal exercises, you’ll severely limit the effectiveness not to mention possibly cause an injury. Tips for correct form include:

Don’t ever pull on your neck or head
Don’t allow your legs to move, they should remain still -- let your abs do all the work
Try to keep your belly button pulled in toward the floor throughout the entire move.
To get you started, below are a few sample exercises* with instructions. Start working out today, and you can show-off your toned abs in time for summer.

Basic Crunch: Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands lightly behind your head for support. Using your abdominal muscles lift your shoulders a few inches off the ground, pause briefly and return to start position. Complete at least one set of 10-12 reps.

Standing Towel Circle: Stand tall and hold a small towel (or resistance band) taut overhead. Contract abs and slowly draw a large, wide circle over your head and around your torso with your hands. Keep towel pulled taut throughout. Return to beginning position and reverse the circular direction. Complete at least one set of 8-10 reps in each direction.

Oblique Twist With Ball: Begin by sitting on the ball. Walk feet forward until ball is resting under your back -- body is now parallel to the floor. Place hands lightly behind head for support. Using your abdominal muscles slowly crunch up lifting your shoulder blades off of the ball and rotate left shoulder toward right hip. Return to starting parallel position and repeat then switch sides.

Liposuction: It's For More Than Just Your Stomach fat

Let's face it, we all have a couple of pounds that we'd like to lose. As a person gets older, their metabolism slows down, and we put on pounds as a result. Remember, it gets even harder to keep the weight off if all you do is sit behind a desk and only move to go get lunch!

Many people admit that they're not really the kind to go exercise the weight off, so they just jump right on ahead to the liposuction procedure. You've probably heard a lot about liposuction in the media when reading about celebrities – who's had it, and who should get it. Well, those are actually two categories that can apply to one or the other of the human population.

The thing to remember about this procedure is that there are and unfortunate amount of surgeons who treat this procedure more recklessly than they should. They feel that they should suck out as much fat as possible and as quickly as possible. Although it was previously mentioned that pounds of fat might be removed during just one procedure, it's important to note that that's only for extreme cases. Otherwise, it's too dangerous to take out too much fat at once.

Also, something else that you need to protect yourself against is falling for an advertisement. Some surgeons who have lots of money will commission lots of different advertisements promising to be the absolute best at what they do. They show lots of pictures in these advertisements as well, but make sure that you exercise caution and acknowledge the fact that the photos could have been altered.

So, before you decide to have surgery, save yourself some money by first cutting back on your fat intake. You can slowly start getting fit by doing something as simple as taking a ten-minute walk each day. Choose this surgical procedure carefully.

This leads you to believe that you are cured, but you have to continue to use the drug to be cured.

The side effects of using these drugs are that it keeps your stomach at a pH higher than 3.0 and your stomach is not allowed to stabilize its pH to 3.0 or less.

However, activated charcoal can cause black stools and constipation. Evidence concerning the benefit of activated charcoal is contradictory. Its effect in alleviating symptoms of intestinal gas has been supported by some studies yet refuted by others. As a result, physicians may recommend that patients consider trying activated charcoal to see whether its use results in some symptom relief. The usual dose is two to four tablets taken just before eating and one hour after meals.
Gas is often a symptom of lactose intolerance, which makes digesting dairy products difficult. It occurs when the body has too little of the enzyme lactase in the small intestine to break down lactose, the main sugar in milk and milk-based products. Although lactose intolerance can happen at any age, it tends to affect most people as they grow older. Lactase comes in liquid or tablet form. Adding a few drops to milk before drinking or chewing lactase tablets just before eating helps people who have difficulty breaking down lactose.
Bismut has salts to relieve inflammatory conditions of the stomach and intestines and can sometimes relieve gas. Take before or after meals, on either an empty or full stomach.
In summary, stomach and intestinal gas is normal. Excess gas can be distressing, but rarely is it caused by a serious medical disorder.
